About us

Considering the importance of electric machines and with the aim of spreading awareness about this subject; The necessity of establishing a scientific association was raised by the Advanced Electric Motors Technology Development Center of Niroo Research Institute with a group of university and industry experts in 2016, and after a consensus on the formation of the association, the necessary documents were prepared and submitted to the Commission of Scientific Associations of the Ministry of Science, Research and technology in March 2017. The process of reviewing and registering the association took some time due to the need to hold several meetings with the members of the commission of scientific associations and to clear some ambiguities related to the framework of the association and to prevent any interference with some other associations, as well as to change some members of the founding board. In the meeting dated 23 Feb. 2021, the Commission of Scientific Associations announced its initial approval for the establishment of the association and communicated this issue to the representative of the founding board through letter No. 70468 dated June 26, 2021. The founding board members of the association include Dr. Vahedi (Iran University of Science and Technology), Dr. Abbaszadeh (K. N. Toosi University of Technology), Dr. Feiz (University of Tehran), Dr. Afjei (Shahid Beheshti University), Dr. Amini Valashani (Niroo Research Institute), Dr. Ojaghlu (Pars Generator Company), Engineer Cheraghi (Electrogen Company), Engineer Rostami (Jovin Electric Machines Company), Dr. Olamaei (Islamic Azad University), and Engineer Vahedian (Motogen Company). After the approval of the association, the meetings of the founding board were held and the statute of the association was approved by the founding board on September 2, 2021, and it was sent to the Commission of Scientific Associations to obtain permission to hold a general meeting. After that, the first general assembly of the association was held on April 6, 2022 and the members of the first board of directors of the association were elected.

The mission of the Iranian Society of Electric Machines and Drives is to create synergy and linkage between domestic centers and global authorities active in the field of electric machines and drives, to edit and propagate technical standards, and to develop educational, research, and technological activities with a creative and forward-looking approach in this field, with the aim of sustainable development and improving social welfare.
